Thomas
Pierson was christened 6 Aug 1634, Dewsbury, Yorkshire, England. His parents
were the Rev Samuel Pierson [vicar of Dewsbury] and wife Elizabeth Armitage.
Thomas, a nephew of the Rev. Abraham Pierson, came to America
about the year 1661. He
"was a weaver, and while quietly pursuing his calling was ready to bear
his full share of the burdens devolving upon the settlers of a new
colony."
He
married 27 Nov 1662 in the first Presbyterian Church of Branford, Ct. Maria
Harrison daughter of Richard Harrison and sister of Sgt. Richard
Harrison.
He was one of
the founders of the Puritan Colony at Branford, Ct and later in 1666 of Newark,
NJ where he held many offices.

Sr. was a signer of Fundamental Agreement; signs agreement providing for
Pastor's salary; assists in building mill; town weaver. He was made a
townsman, 1677, constable, 1679 and grand juryman, 1680. I have found
some of the information in a book "Pierson Millennium" by Richard
E. Pierson & Jennifer Pierson, Heritage Books, Inc., Bowie Md. and
Family History Center."

Pierson was married at Rotherham to Elizabeth Armitage on Jan. 19, 1629/30.
Samuel Pierson was
born on Feb. 26, 1603 at Guiesley, England.

Samuel Pieson attended
Trinity College, Cambridge from 1620-1624.
He was ordained at Peterborough on March 13, 1624/25.
He later became vicar at Dewsbury.
His wife, Elizabeth Armitage was buried Sept. 27, 1651
He died on Oct. 6, 1655.
