Sally's great-great-great-great-great-great-Grandparents:

Thomas Brewer ca 1667 - 1729  |  his parents
& wife
|  her parents

This is my working hypothesis - the way I see it as of this moment!!

Thomas Brewer's  children included
1.  Patience Brewer ca 1729 - ca 1797
married John Drew ca 1725 Nansemond Co - ca 1772 [maybe VA]
married 2nd ca 1773 John Webb d 1785 Edgecombe Co
2. Juliana Brewer
      married William Haynes
not the one of 1766 will
3. Ann Brewer d before 1741
      married Edmund Godwin 1712 - 1762
he had married 2nd Ann Applewhaite before Henry Applewhaite wrote his will in 1741
4. John Brewer
5. Thomas Brewer Jr d. bef 1754 Nansemond VA

e-mail from Barry Hayes - John Lawrence (ca. 1664/65-1739), who married Margaret Murphry, daughter of William Murphry, Sr. and his first wife Frances, signed his will  on 27 January 1738/39, witnessed by Robert Lawrence, Charles Council, and Thomas Brewer.  Charles Council was the son of Hardy Council and nephew of my ancestress Lucy Council Wooten.  This Thomas Brewer was evidently the brother of Julian, Patience, and Ann Brewer Godwin and thus the  grandson of John Brewer whose widow married Colonel Anthony Holladay, father of Sarah Murphry, step mother of John Lawrence's wife.  (Boddie, Seventeenth Century, pp. 227-229)

Note: -Seems Wm. Haynes 1730 - 1766[will] married only a Catherine Baker, dau of Lawrence and Ann Baker, in 1758.  So this William Haynes is another person.

John Brewer d 1635   |  his parents
& Mary   |  h
er parents
& 1635 Thomas Butler d 1737  |  his parents
of London and Virginia

This is my working hypothesis - the way I see it as of this moment!!

John Brewer, eldest son of Thomas of London was a grocer in London.
before 1630 he moved to Virginia, as he was a Burgess from Warwick in 1629-30.
He was a member of the Governor's Council 1632-34.
His plantation was called "Stanley's Hundred" or "Brewer's Burrough" and his land in Warwick was adjacent to that of Colonel Miles Cary and Thomas Reade.

Children of John Brewer and wife Mary:
1. John Brewer bef 1623 - 1669
     married Anne
2. Marie Brewer bef 1623 -
not mentioned in father's 1631 will
3. Margaret Brewer bef 1623 -
4. Roger Brewer aft 1623 -

John Bennett Boddie in "Seventeenth Century Isle of Wight County Virginia" gives a sketch of the Brewer family.

His Uncle John Drake [citizen and clothmaker of London] in 1623 remembered the family in his will naming John Brewer, Marie Brewer and Margaret Brewer, children of John Brewer, citizen and grocer of London and of Mary his wife. . .

"John Brewer died in Virginia in 1635 and his widow soon afterwards married Thomas Butler, 'Clarke and Parson of Denbie' [Later Warwick] This is evidenced by a grant of land to Thomas Butler of 1000 acres in Isle of Wight, 11 July 1635 [see grant] The land was in right of John Brewer esq. 'of which 50 acres was due as Brewer's own personal adventure and 50 acres for the personal adventure of his wife Mary , due said Butler as marrying said relict Mary Brewer.'
The Rev. Thomas Butler died in 1637 and his will was probated in London in that same year.
He left no children [VMII p316]
"John Brewer made his will Sept. 4th 1631 as a 'citizen and grocer of London' same was probated 13th May 1636 as follows:
"To be buried without any mourning apparel or gowns given to any but those of mine own household.
To my dearly beloved father Thomas Brewer, eight pounds yearly [..as long as h shoul live]
To my son John Brewer my plantation in Virginia called 'Stanley hundred' also 'Brewer's Burough' only the third part of the profits thereof during the life of Mary my wife I give to her and also the third part of my goods and chattels, beside which is also due by the custom of London.
To my son Roger Brewer and my daughter Margaret Brewer forth pounds apiece payable at marriage or when 21.
To my brother Thomas Brewer 40 sh and to each of his children 10 sh.
The residue to my said children John, Roger and Margaret, they to be executors, but as they are now young, I appoint my wife Mary and my loving uncle Roger Drake, citizen and clothmaker of London, to be overseers and guardians of my children; to each of them 40 sh to buy them a ring.
   [Testator died in Virginia]"

John Brewer died in Virginia in 1635.
His widow soon afterwards married Thomas Butler, "Clarke and Parson of Denbie" [later Warwick]
Thomas Butler received a grant of 1000 acres in Isle of Wight 11 July 1635. The land was in right of John Brewer, esquire "of which 50 acres were due as Brewer's own personal adventure and 50 acres for the personal adventure of his wife Mary, due said Butler as marrying said relict Mary Brewer. The Reverand Thomas Butler died in 1637, and his will was probated in London in that same year. He left no children.
