   This is my working hypothesis - the way I see it as of this moment!!

who were the parents of Abner Rountree (ca 1770-1816)?  --I have been looking at this puzzle for some years. I propose that his father was  Robert Rountree est 1730- ca 1793 of Nansemond Co, VA who was son of a Robert Rountree ca 1699 - ca 1774 Nansemond Co, VA son of a Robert Rountree ca 1666 London, England - est 1740 Nansemond Co, VA son of Francis Rountree (Rowantree) born London, England 1649- died 1723 in Virginia.  Francis, who we are told is our Ancestor, embarked for  Virginia from the north of Ireland with five of his six sons the year of a smallpox epidemic. (The youngest son Charles came down with small pox just as the ship was about to leave and he and his mother stayed behind in Ireland. The father and the other brothers all embarked for America as they had "already paid their passage." We are also told that some died from "ship fever on the voyage" from another source.)

We also find that Robert and Francis Roundtree had patented 490 acres of land in Nansemond in 1686.

But then  Moses Rountree of North Carolina son of Moses son of Francis son of Francis could be Abner's father. Anyway I think  predominance of evidence points to Robert because of  the name Solomon? although Solomon could have come from Nancy's family.
