I am not certain to which Josiah Parker the references below belong. Is it father, son,
or grandson?
Josiah Parker married the widow of John Riddick (1766-1800) Mourning Smith Riddick
(b.1773); her daughter Mourning Smith Riddick (1808 - 1873) married Miles Lassiter
" To All Whom it May Concern: This will certify I am perfectly willing that the clerk
of Gates County should grant and issue a license to solemnize the rights of Matrimony
between Wiley W Jenkins & Mary Riddick as they have consented to the same. Given under
my hand etc. Decr 7 1821. Josiah Parker Gardian. for said Mary Riddick Witness: W Smith."
~ Gates Co Marriage Records
12 Aug '03 - Mrs. Koestler, ... The
daughter of Mourning Smith Riddick who married Miles Lassiter was named
Mourning Smith Riddick (1808-1873) also. She was the product of
Mourning Smith's marriage to John Riddick, and was my great-great-great-
grandmother. I know these things to be true because she, as well as
the rest of my family, are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetary in Suffolk, VA,
down the street from where I live. Interestingly, my mother's side of
the family is from Hertford County, NC, and there are many Parkers in our
family tree. I just thought you might want some clarification on your
family tree work! Thank you, Susan Woodward

of the promises set before them andthereby be enabled to meet their youthful
friend in mansions of eternal bliss.Somerton, January 22, 1832.
the person who wrote to you infers that Wiley's
wife was a Parker since Thomas is his brother-in-law. I have her as a
Reddick too, but Judge B. B. Winborne said she was a Parker. Becky
Dozier
My answer --- Judge BBWinborne is not noted for his preciseness.
I expect you will find that his wife IS a Riddick [Reddick] and half sister
to Thomas S Parker. Now if we can just figure who this Josiah Parker is in
the scheme of things?

listed incorrectly on the Internet, as Anne Elizabeth Cole. That is from her
father's name, John Cole Jenkins.

listed as a brickmason and Ira Parker a schoolmaster. Nothing on Josiah.
