In June 1770 Edward Cobb petitioned to build a public grist mill across Horse Spring Branch. This time it affected the land of John Moore.  again Edward Cobb's request was granted.

From Records of Estates, Bertie Co, NC  [abstract by Gammon]
Edward Cobb - adm. grtd. Stephen Buck, Nov 11, 1779. Account of sale Nov 9 1779 by the admr. Account current Jan 24 1792 with the admr. Petition [Nov 1791] by James Castilow and wife Elizabeth and Smith Davis and wife Happy and James Cobb [sic] stating they were the children of the dec'd and since his death Elizabeth Cobb had married James Castilow and Happy Cobb had married Smith Davis. Record notes that Edward Cobb had died sometime before Nov 9 1779 intestate and his widow had married secondly Stephen Buck who became administrator. There were three other children, Edward, Joseph, and John Cobb. This petition was for a share of the estate. Stephen Buck answered this petition [undated] and agreed with the petition, stating that Smith Davis and Happy Cobb were married in April, 1789, and all the other children had remained at home. He had raised, clothed, and fed them at his expense, and he felt he had already paid them their share. Account of sale Jan 28 1792 by Solomon Cherry. Stephen Buck and Joseph Simons bought. Division of estate Jan 24 1792 between 1. James Castilowe, 2. Smith Davis, 3. John Cobb, and lots 4 and 5 were to be sold. A one-third share was paid to Stephen Buck who had married the widow.
