               This is my working hypothesis - the way I see it as of this moment!! 


  Henry Goodman  died between April  25 1778 and May 1783 in the area now known as Gates County, NC.  Wife apparently had died before April 1778.

Will of Henry Goodman – April 25, 1778 – Hertford County, NC
In the name of God Amen  I Henry Goodman of Hertford County in the provicince of North Carolina being very weak and crazy of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks  be given to Almighty......
IMPRIMIS - First my will is that all my just debts and funeral charges be satisfied and paid 
ITEM: I give  to my son William Goodman a piece of Land joining a plantation as he purchased from Phillip Pipkin . . .  
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son Joel Goodman My plantation I now liveth on  . . . . . 
ITEM: I give and bequeath to my Relation Betsey Bethey Daughter to my Grandaughter Charity Gatlen wife of William Gatlen one negro woman named Luce. . . . .  
ITEM: I give and bequeth all the remainder Part of my Estate of whatsoever Nature and kind It be within Doors and with to be Equally divided amongs my Eight Children Namely: Ann Bethey, William Goodman, Rose Brown, Henry Goodman, Timothy Goodman, Sarah Bethey, Joel Goodman and Charity Pipkin.
 LASTLY I appoint and nominate my son Joel Goodman to be my hole and sole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other will or wills that hath been made by me heretofore in witness whereof I the said Henry Goodman hath set my hand and fixt my seal this Twenty Fifth Day of April in the third year of our Independence and in the year of our Lord God one thousand Seven Hundred & Seventy Eight..
