--You list a Sadie Mayer born in Jersey City.
I had a grandmother--Sadie--born
in 1866--who married Aaron Mayer. They were my grandparents.
They both died at age 89--he in 1945 and she in 1955. Aaron
owned a pawnshop (the oldest in Jersey City)--at the corner of Newark
and Jersey Avenues. The building burned to the ground many years
ago---and my father sold the land for 15,000 dollars.
I remember his showing me the check.
The store was owned jointly with Leo Rice. Thanks,
